Urban-Rural Connections: Sustainability in a Volatile World
FULL-DAY CONFERENCE: This collaborative conference is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2009, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rackham Auditorium (Washington Street, downtown Ann Arbor, MI). The workshop-like event will encompass presentations, panel discussions, interactive dialogs, and break-out case-study sessions. It brings together a diverse mix of public officials, urban planners, faculty members, public interest groups, researchers, and more. Confirmed presenters and panelists include the following:

FREE OPENING LECTURE & RECEPTION: The event will kick off the night before, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 7 p.m. (Rackham) will feature keynote speaker Attorney and Economist Michael Shuman, Vice President for Enterprise and Development for the Training & Development Corporation (TDC) of Bucksport, Maine. He is the author of several books, including The Small-Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses Are Beating the Global Competition and Going Local: Creating Self-Reliant Communities in the Global Age.
