Grants from the Student Sustainability Coalition

SSC offers two funding options for student-led initiatives that further campus sustainability. Click on the links below to learn more about each opportunity and apply for the grant that best suits your project idea, and contact if you have any questions.

  • Planet Blue Student Innovation Fund (PBSIF) grants provide up to $50,000 annually ($25,000 in fall semester 2021) for ambitious, student-initiated projects that reduce the university’s environmental footprint and promote a culture of sustainability on campus. We give priority to projects that are innovative, visible, and transformative. Other criteria include factors such as student involvement and interest, impact durability, and partnerships facilitated within the U-M community. Letters of Intent for PBSIF funding are due by 11:59 pm on 11/5/2021 and are mandatory to be considered for funding. See past funded PBSIF projects.
  • Social and Environmental Sustainability (SES) Grants grants provide up to $2,500 in support of projects that advance environmental- and DEI&J-focused sustainability on campus, including special events. Applications for SES funding are accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis.
