Maaike is pursuing a Masters of Science in Behavior, Education, and Communication through the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability. She graduated in 2020 from University of California, Davis with a Bachelor's in Environmental Science and a minor in Spanish. At UC Davis she researched topics in Fire Ecology and Plastics Recycling. At SEAS she is intersted in understanding how to influence behavior change to reduce consumption and waste, and strengthen wellbeing, food and water security, and community relationships. When Maaike isn't in the classroom, you can find her exploring the outdoors in many differnet forms. She loves being outside, whether it is getting her hands dirty at The Farm at St. Joes, educating people about watershed health with the Huron River Watershed Council, running on Ann Arbor's local trails, or exploring State and National Parks. Maaike works with the Graham Scholars as the Education Program Assistant at Graham Sustainability Institute.
